Mycorrhizal Fungal Effects on Plant Growth, Osmolytes, and CsHsp70s and CsPIPs Expression in Leaves of Cucumber under a Short-Term Heat Stress

Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi enhance plant stress tolerance, but it is unclear whether AM affect heat tolerance in cucumbers. This study aimed to analyze how an fungus, Diversispora versiformis, affected growth, chlorophyll, five osmolytes, and plasma membrane intrinsic proteins (PIPs) shock protein 70 (Hsp70) gene expression cucumber leaves after a short-term (80 h) stress. Heat treatment significantly reduced root fungal colonization rate (0.26 folds). also distinctly suppressed height, stem diameter, biomass, whereas inoculation improved these growth variables as well the chlorophyll index, with benefit being more obvious under than no-heat conditions. triggered differential changes osmolytes (sucrose, fructose, betaine) of inoculated uninoculated cucumbers, fungus raised leaf sucrose, glucose, betaine, proline levels when compared non-AM inoculation. increased two (CsPIP1;6 CsPIP2;1) eight CsPIPs plants, up-regulated CsPIP1;6, CsPIP2;1, CsPIP2;6 Hsp70s expressed differently plants versus stress, 6 11 CsHsp70s down-regulated plants. Under conditions, only CsHsp70-8 Hsp70s, while another were down-regulated. both CsPIP1;6. It was concluded that fungus-inoculated cucumbers have high do not require tolerate treatment.
